Educational
Philosophy:
NCAPS encourages students to approach their studies with
a spirit of open and flexible intellectual inquiry.
No single theory
of approach is presented as an ideal, but rather students engage in a
discussion of a variety of theories, ideas, historical developments and
trends, practice approaches in order to facilatate a deeper study and
understanding of both human relationships and effective
practice.
The exchange of ideas is stimulating, expansive and
fun!
Experiencial learning through
group process is highly empahsized at NCAPS.
NCAPS belives in the ethical mandate and deep value
of continuous study of
self and practice through supervision, peer consultation, courses and discussions. CEU's for social workers are offered
for some courses.
NCAPS' aim is to bring together clinicians who
are interested in broadening deepening their knowledge base. Most
students have already acquired a solid working knowledge and skill base,
and are deeply interested in ongoing learning about the work and art of
psychotherapy.
Students who take courses will regard their
learning experience as part of a life long career devoted to effective
practice and personal and professional growth.
