Georgia's New CE Broker Requirement: What Therapists Need to Know At a Glance
TL;DR: Georgia passed a new requirement in January 2026 that will eventually require clinicians to track continuing education through CE Broker. The good news? You don't need to panic, buy a subscription, or spend your weekend deciphering government websites.
Here's what matters.
Wait... Another Thing We Have to Do?
If your reaction to this announcement was:
"I barely remember my passwords, and now I have to learn another system?"
You're not alone.
Between Alma/Aetna changes, AI conversations, practice management software, and actually seeing clients, many therapists are experiencing what I call administrative burnout by a thousand paper cuts.
The Georgia Secretary of State has moved toward using CE Broker as the centralized system for continuing education tracking. The goal is to streamline compliance, improve auditing, and create a single location for license renewal documentation.
Whether it feels streamlined remains to be seen.
But the requirement is here, so let's make it easy.
What Changed?
Beginning January 1, 2026, Georgia licensees are expected to begin maintaining continuing education records that will eventually be tracked through CE Broker.
The actual Georgia integration is scheduled to launch July 1, 2026, which means we're currently in a transition period.
Think of it like moving houses:
January = Start packing boxes
July = Movers arrive
Renewal season = Hope you labeled the boxes correctly
What Do I Actually Need To Do?
Right Now
Keep every CE certificate you earn from October 1, 2024-2026.
Seriously.
Create a folder called:
"Don't Lose These or Future Me Will Be Angry"
Store:
CE certificates
Attendance records
Course completion confirmations
Any documentation showing completed CE hours
Digital copies are perfectly fine.
Before July 1, 2026
Create a free CE Broker account and familiarize yourself with the system.
Important: You do not need a paid account to comply.
Starting July 1, 2026
Once Georgia's system goes live:
Link your license
Upload certificates earned since January
Verify hours are showing correctly
Continue adding CE documentation throughout the cycle
What Happens If I Wait Until Renewal Season?
What Happens If I Wait Until Renewal Season?
The Board's move toward digital tracking means compliance reviews become much easier to automate.
Translation:
The old strategy of digging through email archives at 11:47 PM the night before renewal is becoming increasingly risky.
Future You deserves better.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to pay for CE Broker?
No.
Georgia clinicians can meet compliance requirements using the free account.
Should I create an account now?
Yes. It doesn't hurt to get familiar with the platform before renewal season.
Do I need to upload my old CE certificates?
When it goes live July 1, 2026, I would set aside one hour to begin uploading certificates. For now, focus on organizing what you have into a folder for ease of upload.
My Recommendation
Don't spend hours worrying about this.
Set the calendar reminders and block off the time for the tasks.
Then go back to the work that actually matters.
As additional Georgia Board guidance becomes available, I'll continue sharing updates and practical steps so you don't have to spend your Friday night reading administrative rules.
